STANDARD 5:

HUMAN RESOURCES

The school has the human resources in place to carry out school policy, and to deliver the instructional program in accordance with its mission.

Effective Practice 5.1

Members of staff (administrative, instructional, and support) are sufficient in number and have education, training and experience appropriate to their responsibilities.

Effective Practice 5.2

The school has clear published hiring policies and protocols that are effectively communicated.

Effective Practice 5.3

Personnel policies and practices provide for fair and ethical treatment among all employees with respect to compensation, workloads and working conditions.

Effective Practice 5.4

The school has a professional development plan for faculty and staff and provides adequate resources (financial, time, etc.) to support it.  The plan is aligned with the strategic plan.

Effective Practice 5.5

The school has an on-going, effective and consistent documented process for faculty and staff evaluation.     

Effective Practice 5.6

The school has effective orientation and mentoring practices in place for new personnel to ensure appropriate understanding and commitment to the school’s mission and academic goals.

Effective Practice 5.7

The school has an effective strategy in place to recognize and retain high performing Personnel.

Effective Practice 5.8

The school makes a concerted effort to address the issue of diversity through hiring of staff appropriate to its mission statement and its definition of diversity.
