Thank you for taking the time to explore the CESI website!
CESI has been accrediting schools across Canada for over 20 years and has grown to 61 schools, including over thirty thousand students. Each year, an average of 10 schools are reviewed as part of a rigorous and reflective accreditation process, with over 80 volunteer leaders participating on Visiting Committees.
Data supports the fact that CESI contributes to meaningful school improvement. In a 2007 study of Visiting Committee Reports and Response Reports, we found the following:
From January 1999 to June 2006, CESI reviewed 51 schools. In the 51 Visiting Committee reports, the total number of recommendations is 1068.
In a study of the Response Reports, schools reported that they had implemented 48% of the recommendations within 18 Months, and they were in the process of implementing 46% of the recommendations. Considering that some of the remaining 6% of recommendations may have been implemented eventually after the 18 month reporting period, that's at least a 94% success rate.
The strength of CESI is in offering schools specific recommendations on how to make their schools better in terms of program and operation. The strength of CESI is that schools implement those recommendations demonstrating that CESI schools are institutions committed to excellence and school improvement.
There are many ways that you can become involved in CESI. Please contact me directly so we can discuss these opportunities. I look forward to working with you towards making good schools better.
